With a soundtrack of music and sound effects but no dialogue, Sunrise bridges the eras of silent movies and the talkies. Fox brought Murnau from Germany to direct, poured resources into the film and won the first Oscar.
It is a fable of love and murder in the city and the country. A rare chance to see what was voted ‘the most beautiful film in the world’ in 1958, and the seventh best film in movie history in 2002.
