Caitlin Woolrich (Yum-Yum), and Amelia Joycelyn (Peep-Bo), admire the costume worn by Imogen Dixon (Pitti-Sing), when she appeared in the Mikado aged three.

When Livewire Opera Company were searching to cast the part of Pitti-Sing in their latest production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s “The Mikado”, they found that they already had the ideal person in their midst. Fifteen year old, Imogen Dixon has featured in many of the company’s previous shows including the part of Louisa Von Trapp, in their 2013 production of ‘The Sound of Music’.

This is the second time Livewire have performed ‘The Mikado’, the first time Imogen played the part of a flower girl, aged just three years old. This time, she will be following in the footsteps of her Mother, Rosie who performed as Pitti-Sing back in 2003.

Livewire Opera Company is a friendly group of all ages dedicated to performing local shows and concerts. It was formed in February 2001 by a group of six friends, under the musical directorship of Susan Booth.

In its first year, the Group entered the Norfolk County Music Festival gaining “Highly Commended” in all its classes culminating in the group being presented with the NAAM Plate for the most promising adult performance in the festival at the end of festival concert.

Livewire have always felt that there is a need locally for a group to take music and shows to the ‘people’in a local venue rather than expecting them to travel some distance to see us.

The productions and concerts are as professional as it is possible for an amateur group to make them. It is our belief that operetta such as Savoy Opera are an important part of musical heritage and performance history of this country. Traditionally styled operetta has an important place in the musical education of the young people in our company and also those who come to see our shows. Hence, the preservation of a slice of life that would otherwise be lost. This approach means that we can walk a comfortable path between classical music and education at the same time. We will hopefully reach audiences that would otherwise have their eyes closed to this medium, and engender their curiosity in this art form.
