The Time For You Project:
28 people came to the Sibton and Peasenhall Methodist Chapel on November 15th 2010 to meet MP Therese Coffey and hear Suffolk ACRE researcher Nat Bocking report on progress and discuss the ‘Big Society’ and its impact on social care.

Many new initiatives have been proposed through the project to provide local services for family carers and the community.

Would you like to see more buses running between Peasenhall, Saxmundham and Halesworth, stopping at supermarkets and doctors?

Would you like an accurate guide to all the services that could help you or a friend which are changing as the county council divests itself from provision?

Would you like computer classes in the village hall, thanks to a wireless broadband hub? Perhaps you would like a good neighbour scheme to lend a hand or share a lift?

These proposed services are within grasp but they urgently need input from local people to qualify for funding.

Sibton and Peasenhall and surrounding villages are part of a pilot scheme giving £100 to family carers to take a break in return for taking part in a confidential survey of their needs.

This project also offers funding to businesses and community groups to create breaks for carers. It can advise businesses how to be ‘care aware’ too.

One in five people are now caring and they can now have ‘personal budgets’, giving them greater choice on their care.
