Band set to celebrate the 60s era on Beccles stage

An award-winning band will bring the stage alive at Beccles Public Hall with the sounds of the 60s.

The Zoots, who were named International Cover Band of the Year in 2018, have sold more than one million downloads, played over 1000 shows and have wowed audiences across 30 countries.

But for lead singer Jamie Goddard, performing in Beccles on Saturday, November 9, will be especially nostalgic because it is where he and backing singer Harriet Lowther have visited several times on their travels – but never performed.

Jamie said: “The Zoots have played in front of audiences on four continents, from Israel to Italy, Havana to Venice and Barcelona to Montego Bay, but there’s something especially nerve-wracking about playing to a crowd where you spend your holidays.”

Harriet added: “It’s our first time and it will be really special to play to some old friends and some new ones too.”

The two-hour show is an energetic, non-stop performance, which will take audiences on a journey back in time with 50 hit songs from the 1960s.

The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and The Small Faces are just some of the bands The Zoots will celebrate.

Formed in 2009, The Zoots hail from Berkshire and initially operated as a 1960s tribute act only. They have since progressed and expanded their repertoire to include the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Now based in Wiltshire, the band consists of five young musicians, which also includes guitarist Adam Woodhouse, drummer Ian Bostic and bassist Tommy Lloyd.

Lesley Cox, Event Coordinator at Beccles Public Hall said: “We are really excited to have secured The Zoots as part of our autumn programme. They are world renowned and highly talented. If you can think of a well-known 60s song, you can almost guarantee they will perform it – we fully expect them to raise the roof!”

Tickets for The Zoots, ‘Sounds of the 60s’ are £17 (concessions £15) and are available by popping into the Box Office, open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 3pm, or by calling 01502 770060 between these times.
