BVRW 08 10 “THUNDER” ON THE BURE VALLEY RAILWAY TRACK
Bure Valley Railway is re-launching locomotive No 8 ‘Thunder’ a 2-6-2 tank ZB class. It was first steamed on 19th December 1997 as an oil-fired loco. Now after a major overhaul and conversion to coal firing, it has returned to traffic.

The locomotive was designed specifically for the railway by Winson Engineering, based upon the Indian Railway’s ZB class, 2’-6” gauge, design. The outline of the body is based on a Vale of Rheidol Railway locomotive, in Wales. It was originally assembled in the Aylsham Workshop in 1996/7 from components supplied by Winson Engineering. ”Thunder” first steamed again on the 25th of May 2008, during re-acceptance trials.
