DOUGLAS FARTHING
Commissioned by The Royal Tank Regiment and 20 Brigade to record the final ‘Iraq tour’, a very historical time for the British Army, his exhibition of works is on show at The Upstairs Gallery this month.
BASRA
Project in Basra, Iraq I have recently been serving in Basra with 20 Brigade and re-deploy back to the UK in the last few months. I have had a great time there, my third tour. Basra and Southern Iraq are very different places to what I remember from my previous tours. The markets are full of produce and the people appear happier, I have been painting and drawing for many units there and was commissioned by The Royal Tank Regiment and 20 Brigade to record the final ‘Iraq tour’, a very historical time for the British Army. Some of the works you see here today reflect that.
Also on display are my more personal works, from places I visit and live when I’m home. These are my reflections of time and calm.
This month, we have over 100 artists on display – why not take a visit, and enjoy what we have to offer. We’d love to see you!
