Young Actors Academy
King Lear
Friday 9-10 July 2010
7.30
tickets £6.50 / £4.50

Shakespeare’s greatest show gets full on treatment from a bunch of young actors brimming with ideas and theatrical inventiveness.

Seduced by flattery, Lear gives away his power and money in exchange for love and a life of the idle rich. After one riotous party too many the ex king loses everything, including his sanity and rapidly inhabits a strikingly modern world, where the mad lead the blind.

Directed by James Holloway and Caroline Mummery

tickets £10 / £8

In this programme of story, music, poetry and song Chris Wood, Hugh Lupton and local choir Big Sky directed by Sian Croose put their ears to the ground and tell the story of East Anglian ‘peasant’ poet John Clare (1793 -1864). It is a performance that explores the porous boundaries between language and place, madness and exile, love and loss.
