Wymondham Words 2014 programme

WORDS AND WOMEN INVITED TO WYMONDHAM WORDS LITERARY FESTIVAL

Words and Women is bringing an exciting and eclectic range of writers, singer-songwriters and even some scripted magic to Wymondham’s Literary Festival, Wymondham Words on September 24th 2014.

Poet Andrea Holland, novelist Lynne Bryan and Charles Pick Fellow Megan Bradbury will read alongside Bethany Settle, writer in residence at The Undercroft in Norwich while young actress Laura Futter will read an extract from Ariel’s Tempest by Belona Greenwood.  Talented, young singer songwriters, Matilda Pine (who has headlined at Jimmy’s Farm) will play alongside the original and moving songs of Phoebe Robinson.

‘It will be a great night of profound, moving, funny and very original texts from local writers and performers reflecting the enormous talent to be found in our region.’ said Belona Greenwood, co-organiser of Words and Women.

The event is hosted by Wymondham Library where there will be wine on offer and plenty of time to pick up a flyer promoting Words and Women’s second short prose competition offering a cash prize of £600 and publication in Words and Women: Two. This year, the anthology will include 20 shortlisted entries and four winning commissions from its Arts Council Funded project, ‘About.’

The anthology published in partnership with Unthank Books in Norwich will be launched on International Women’s Day, 8th March, 2015.

Norwich-based Words and Women showcase and celebrate women writers who live in the East of England, at all stages of their professional careers through an exciting and eclectic programme of events, including a young women’s writing project and touring to regional book festivals.

Notes:

Wymondham Words is South Norfolk’s festival of literature and is held between 19th-27th September 2014.

‘About’ is a unique new writing commission to create 4 texts for performance and the page. The Arts Council funded project will help develop work which explores the life of women and their relationship to place within the East of England.

Words and Women began life as a simple reading event to celebrate International Women’s Day in 2011. Since then it has grown organically to support and showcase women writers in East Anglia, through public events, at regional literary festivals and in print through its annual competition and anthology.
