Young Wildlife Photographer Competition: Showcase exhibition

Norfolk Wildlife Trust is excited to announce the launch of its latest exhibition at NWT Cley Marshes, which showcases the winning and highly commended entries from their first Young People’s Photography Competition, held earlier this year.
The exhibition is free to view, and will be held in the Simon Aspinall Wildlife Education Centre (SAWEC) at Cley Marshes from 11th August to 23rd August. After their residency at the SAWEC the photos will also be on special display on NWT’s stand at the Aylsham Show on Bank Holiday Monday 29th August.
The month-long contest was open to 13-24 year-olds during February, and invited entrants to submit creative photos of Norfolk’s wildlife. Judged by NWT President Patrick Barkham, wildlife photographer David Tipling, and Springwatch’s Lucy ‘Lapwing’ Hodson, there were over 100 impressive entries across the four categories.
The exhibition features the work of competition prize-winner, Josh Zinkin, who said of his winning image of a heron at Holkham: “I took this photo while visiting Holkham NNR in August last year. I spotted this heron stationary from a good distance away. Using my zoom lens, I captured it in its environment, among the changing shades of the vegetation.”
Eliot Lyne, CEO of Norfolk Wildlife Trust said: “Seeing these photos gives me great hope for the future of Norfolk’s nature. It is clear that not only are there talented photographers among the younger generations, but that they see our wildlife for what it is – something to be inspired by, to marvel at and to care for.”
Please note: across a small number of occasions during the exhibition, the exhibition space will be unavailable. Please call ahead of visiting to check availability.
The prize fund included book bundles from WildSounds Books, a day out in a hide with wildlife photographer David Tipling, NWT membership, wooden bird boxes and clip-on lenses for use with mobile cameras.
