Action for Happiness at Suffolk Libraries

Suffolk Libraries is running a series of free ‘Action for Happiness’ workshops and events at Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Lowestoft Libraries.

The workshops are aimed at people who need some support or inspiration on how to become happier or help make their community a happier place. The programme will also involve other events at libraries including comedy film nights and laugh aloud book groups with the dates and locations to be confirmed.

The Action for Happiness workshops are being run by Suffolk Libraries Mental Health and Wellbeing Service in partnership with Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust with support from local community groups and businesses. Suffolk Community Foundation have also provided funding to support the programme.

The courses are free and open to anyone over 16. They are being run in the early evening so that working people can take part. The first dates for workshops are:

Ipswich Library – Tuesday 7 October – 4.30pm to 7pm

Bury St Edmunds Library – Tuesday 14 October 4.30pm to 7pm

Lowestoft Library – Thursday 23 October 5pm to 7pm.

The events will involve an informal meeting followed by tea and cake and a chance to meet local and national organisations that may be the key to your or your community’s happiness. A wellbeing worker from Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust (NSFT) will then deliver a workshop.

Action for Happiness is a national movement aimed at improving people’s happiness and wellbeing. The Action for Happiness Team have commented that the Suffolk Libraries programme: “…sounds fantastic and we love the diversity in terms of workshops, discussions, film nights and more.”
