People are being encouraged not to miss the chance to speak to the dedicated, expert staff who provide Norfolk’s community-based NHS services.

At Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust’s (NCH&CHealthier Fair, to be held tomorrow (Tuesday, September 24 2013) between 9am-5pm, members of the public will have the opportunity to look around a number of interactive stalls and speak to the people who dedicate their careers to caring for local people.

The event will be held at The Forum, in Norwich, and will be officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Norwich, Councillor Keith Driver (full details below). The event will be the third annual Healthier Fair arranged by the Trust, which coincides each year with its AGM.

Members of the public are also invited to attend NCH&C’s AGM, which will be held tomorrow in The Curve, at The Forum, inNorwich. Light refreshments will be provided at 8.45am, with the AGM due to run 9.15-10.15am. The AGM will be a chance to hear about NCH&C’s achievements during 2012/13 and how it has overcome recent challenges.

At the Healthier Fair, Cllr Driver and attendees will be able to look around almost 30 interactive and informative stalls, including: school nursing; specialist rehabilitation, palliative care, community nursing, and dementia.

A number of the stalls will offer the chance for people to get involved in activities, including a Sure Start Children’s Centre stand which will offer children’s activities throughout the day. Other interactive stands will see people able to test the strength of their lungs, while the Trust’s infection control experts will use their ‘glow and tell’ box to show the cleanliness of people’s hands.

Attendees will also be offered the chance to be among the very first to see the Trust’s new Palliative Care Education – or PACE – website, which will launch at the Healthier Fair. The site will make it even easier for local health and care professionals to access palliative care training from NCH&C’s expert staff, ensuing Norfolk’s healthcare staff are able to provide the very best palliative support to local patients.

Another website to launch at the Healthier Fair will be the new Talk About… site, which has been led by NCH&C’s expert speech and language therapists. The site will include a wealth of information, including short films, to help early years staff and parents care for children who need support to develop their communication skills.
