Halesworth Music extravaganza hailed a success!

A special musical event organised to mark the silver anniversary of a much-loved Suffolk charity has been hailed a success after raising more than £5,000.

Halesworth Community Nursing Care Fund (HCNCF) celebrated its 25th year with a summer musical extravaganza, called “Music in the Garden”, which took place in Wissett on 6 September.

The event included live music from a variety of performers, including The Climax Jazz Quartet and Freya Roy, as well as an auction, bar, barbecue, raffle, hog roast, stalls and games.

Money raised from the event has now been counted, and stands at £5,240. All proceeds will go towards an ongoing appeal to raise £714,000 to build an information and support centre for patients with life-limiting illnesses in north Suffolk and south Norfolk.

Ted Edwards, ISC chairman, said: “We were delighted that the musical extravaganza ran so smoothly and raised so much towards our fantastic ISC project.

“We would like to thank everyone who supported us, including those who volunteered to help on the day or so generously donated prizes for the raffle or auction, along with everyone who brought tickets and came along to enjoy themselves. We’d also like to reiterate our thanks to Kath and Alan Witherby for hosting the event, all of our performers and Sam Goodbourne, who did an amazing job of MC-ing as well as being in the band.

“Thanks to everyone’s support, we have now raised £388,374 towards our target of £714,000, and are one step closer to our vision of creating this valuable centre which will provide vital support for local people when they need it the most.”
