Leiston to welcome a new NHS dental surgery

Another new NHS dental practice is set to open in Suffolk during August 2009, in Leiston town centre.

This follows the recent opening of two new dental practices in Suffolk – in Bury St Edmunds and Hadleigh – and is part of an additional investment of £4 million over two years in NHS dentistry made by NHS Suffolk.

In the first instance, anyone wishing to register with the new practice should contact PALS, the Patient Advice and Liaison Service, on 0800 389 6819.

The new NHS practice will be operated by Whitecross Dental Care Ltd. An official opening event will take place in September 2009 to which local press and media will be invited, and further details will be announced in due course.

Clare Banyard, head of primary care at NHS Suffolk, said: “People may not be aware of the improvements in access to NHS dentists we’re making – so we’re very pleased to be announcing another new dental practice opening. The message is clear – more people in Suffolk can see an NHS dentist if they need to.

“We’d like to say again that if you need to register with an NHS dentist, you can do so by contacting PALS.”

And the good news doesn’t stop there – an additional NHS dental surgery will be opening in Rendlesham later this year. Now there’s something to really make Suffolk smile.
