The NHS is urging anyone who needs advice about minor injuries and ailments over the forthcoming bank holiday to visit their community pharmacy. Community pharmacists can give prompt and professional advice, and may supply over-the-counter medicines to help various conditions.

Now might be a good time to restock your medicine cabinet with remedies such as paracetamol and ibuprofen to treat any minor ailments. People with long term health conditions that they manage with regular prescription medicine should also make sure they have sufficient quantities.

If you have a more serious health problem – unless it is a genuine emergency – medical advice and urgent healthcare information can  be accessed by calling 111, 24 hours a day, seven days a week – including public holidays. Patients can call the freephone number for non-emergency but urgent medical concerns that cannot wait to see your GP. The service can also help someone find their nearest NHS dentist.

If you need to be seen immediately but you do not have a serious illness or injury, you can access the Timber Hill Health Centre in Castle Mall, Norwich (7am-9pm), seven days a week 365 days a year, including public holidays. Cromer Minor Injuries Unit, Cromer Hospital, Mill Road is open from 8am to 8pm every day.
