Mental Health Trust seeking new staff

A recruitment fair to fill 40 vacancies is being held by the Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health Foundation Trust, one of the region’s largest employers, at its Hellesdon Hospital site on

Thursday (July 16th) between 10am and 7pm.

The available vacancies cover clinical and non-clinical roles across the service area with candidates able to apply for, and be interviewed for, positions they are interested in on the day.

The Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health Trust provides specialist services dedicated to the care of around 14,000 people in the area experiencing mental ill health or substance misuse issues at any one time. As well as inpatient services located in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, King’s Lynn and Lowestoft a lot of staff are community based.

Joining the NHS provides a career path. Many senior members of the trust, including its chief executive, began their careers as nurses.

Linda Turner, head of education and development at the trust, started her career as a mental health nurse 31 years ago.

“A lot of people don’t realise the career path options on offer when you enter nursing or the NHS in general,” she said. “As well as being very rewarding work there are many opportunities to progress in to management roles and beyond. We encourage and support people to grow with the service by working with them to devise personal development and training plans. And those working in clinical roles also have access to a professional mentor for expert support and advice.”

The trust employs 1600 full and part-time practitioners who care for its service users in hospitals, in the community and in their own homes. There are an additional 600+ staff who provide non-clinical support services including finance, human resources, ICT, maintenance services, ward administration and transport.

The fair will be held in a marquee at the Hellesdon Hospital site with staff from all disciplines available to discuss the many services provided by the trust.
