The Norfolk Sports Awards Judging Panel had an extremely difficult task, with a record year of over 450 nominations. Our amazing summer of sport has generated an increased interest and excitement in sport, locally as well as nationally:

Finalists announced for Norfolk Sports Awards 2012

A record 450 votes were received for the Norfolk Sports Awards 2012. The panel of judges reviewed the nominations and the finalists were announced live on BBC Radio Norfolk this morning.

The winners will be announced at Active Norfolk’s sixth annual Norfolk Sports Awards, where the cream of sporting achievement and service in 2012 will be honoured. 2012 has been an epic year of sport and the evening promises to capture the excitement generated by the Olympic and Paralympic Games and celebrate all the wonderful activities that have been ongoing locally over the past 12 months.

Laurie Hull, Director of Active Norfolk said:

“What a year it has been – amazing venues, fantastic sporting endeavour and outstanding results from Team GB and Paralympic GB. Now it’s our chance to acknowledge the best in Norfolk at our grandest Sports Awards yet, in the presence of some of the nation’s finest”.

The winner for each category will be announced at a special awards evening (ticket only) to be held at The Forum in Norwich on Wednesday, 7 November 2012, 6.45pm-9.30pm. The winners will also be put forward for the BBC Regional and possibly National Sports Awards.
