Norfolk swimmer breaks British Record at Sportspark

A UEA City of Norwich swimmer has broken a British Age Group Record in the swimming pool at Sportspark. 13 year old Jack Utting from Great Yarmouth has broken the record in the 13 year old boys’ 100 metres backstroke. Jack secured his best ever time at the ASA East Region Age Group Championships at Sportspark at the University of East Anglia on Saturday 4 June 2011.

Jack broke the record with a time of 1:01.29. His previous long course best time stood at 1:03.22. Jack turned at half way in 29.82 and had a strong second length and an excellent finish. The record is subject to the necessary ASA application procedures.

Head Coach Alex Pinniger said “Jack has had his eye on this record all season. He is a talented swimmer and works very hard to utilise his talent. He thoroughly deserves this record. Great Britain has had some fantastic backstrokers come through the age groups so this record is special. Jack is a link swimmer with us at Norwich and credit must also go to Great Yarmouth Swimming Club and coach Garry Jarvis who has coached Jack from an early age.”
