Budget Marquees
One of the highlights of our year at Budget Marquees, was the Race for Life Relay event at Caister in July.

It was held as an overnight fund-raising opportunity for those supporting the ‘Race for Life’ cause.

Those connected to a cancer casualty joined together with others to raise funds for Cancer Research, and it also enabled the growing number of Survivors to show their appreciation to the charities that work so hard to fight for them.

You can see them in this photo, behind their banner in their pink tops.

Everyone took part with great enthusiasm, remembering the lost ones, and the work of the researchers who are striving so hard to keep others alive. Teams of fund-raising participants circled the sports track in relays, from noon on Saturday right through the night, and beyond dawn, to the climax finish at 10am.

Their friends and families set up camp at the track side, and cheered on the teams until it was their turn once again.

For much of the time, entertainers held stage at the top of the field, to draw in crowds for additional support. Local dancing groups, singers, musicians and drama groups raised the spirits of those whose tired legs and heads were flagging, and a big effort was made by all.

We supplied several marquees, and were setting up the sound system tent and helping others with theirs, when a gusty storm blew up and knocked over some lightweight gazebos. It looked set to ruin everything! But after a few hours it had blown away leaving a pleasant if damp evening ahead for all the action.

A few days ago it was announced that a whopping £45,500 has been raised – a magnificent achievement.

Well done to father and daughter team, Stephen and Charlotte Bower, the event organisers, and helpers.

It was great working with you.

We’ll see you again next year.
