People in Suffolk and Thetford are invited to discuss the proposed merger of Suffolk Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust with Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust at an event in Ipswich.

Staff from the Suffolk trust will be at Ipswich Town Hall on 25th September from 12noon – 5pm to chat with members of the public as part of their formal consultation.

Robert Nesbitt, director of community engagement, said: “At the public event we will be asking people what they think of the merger plans and whether they have any points or concerns that they would like health managers to consider.”

The three-month consultation period for the proposed plans, which would see one board governing a new NHS Foundation Trust to cover both counties, ends on Sunday 31st October 2010.
