A Norfolk-based singing group is inviting members of the public to join in a ‘open sing’ aimed at lifting moods and busting stress to be held in King’s Lynn.

The confidence boosting group, called Sing Your Heart Out, will be holding the open singing session at The Methodist Church Rooms in King’s Lynn between 2pm and 4pm on 20 September 2012.

Penny Holden, chair at Sing Your Heart Out Central, said: “Sing Your Heart Out is all about wellbeing and lifting spirits so there is never any pressure to worry about. People can sing as quietly or as loudly as they like!

“The open sing event is an opportunity for members of the public to get together with like minded people and have some fun while feeling great.”

Anyone interested is welcome to come along – no booking is needed and there is no charge, though donations are welcome. There will be refreshments including homemade cakes.

The group, who were honoured with a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service earlier in the year, have close links with Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust who provide mental health services.

Maggie Wheeler, chair of the Trust and member of Sing Your Heart Out, said: ”The Queen’s Award is very much about volunteers – and Sing Your Heart Out is proud to be a volunteer led organisation and that most of the volunteers are themselves past or present users of mental health services.”
