Smile please! Leiston gets a new dental practice

A new NHS dental practice in Leiston will be opened officially on Thursday 27 August 2009 at 12 noon by the chairman of NHS Suffolk, Alastair McWhirter.

PALS, the Patient Advice and Liaison Service, is now taking details of patients wanting to register at the new practice, and people are advised to contact them in the first instance on 0800 389 6819.

The practice is the third to open this year in the NHS Suffolk area, and forms part of a £4 million drive by NHS Suffolk over two years to improve access to NHS dentists for everyone in the region.

The practice will be operated by Whitecross Dental Care, and is located on Leiston high street.

Clare Banyard, head of primary care at NHS Suffolk, who is leading the work to introduce new and improved dental services, said: “People in Leiston and the surrounding areas who want to go to an NHS dentist can do so easily now – you only need to call PALS to find out where your nearest dentist accepting new patients can be found.”

Coming up in October another new practice will open in the Suffolk Coastal area, in Rendlesham – further details to follow.
