Sportspark, one of the UK’s largest community sports venues can reveal record breaking end of year financial figures. The total number of memberships taken out at Sportspark is now at its highest ever, with a 15% increase year on year.

Overall there has been an 8% increase in income between July 2010 and August 2011, compared to the previous twelve months.

Other key figures recorded over the year include:

  • Number of badminton courts sold up 15%
  • Usage in the Fitness Centre up 13%
  • Number of climbing sessions sold up 9%
  • Number of non club swimmers up 2%

Director of Sportspark, Keith Nicholls, said “We have been working really hard to keep our existing customers happy and attract members of the local community who want to give sport and exercise a go. Last autumn we launched a new advertising campaign to emphasise the fact we are open to everyone, of any age or ability. Our flexible Pay and Play system and membership options continue to attract those who are new to exercise and often feel intimidated or concerned by the thought of joining a gym.”

He added “These figures are a real testament to not only our dedicated staff, but also to Sportspark’s business model. Sportspark operates as a not for profit organisation and reinvests revenue in maintaining and improving our facilities. Over the last year we have invested millions in providing three new 7-a-side 3G pitches, a brand new Gymnastics Centre, and are currently undertaking a £100,000 revamp of our athletics track. This work has only been possible because of the number of users we attract. We now need to maintain these figures so that Sportspark can continue to provide the people of Norfolk with clean, up to date, first class facilities.”

Sportspark is open to everyone and boasts some of the best sport and leisure facilities in the UK. Over 40 different activities can be played at Sportspark and the facilities can be used on a pay and play basis, offering complete flexibility. However for regular users there are various memberships which offer extra benefits, but there is no contract and no joining fee.
