These include our creative Artbase sessions for children and their parents in 2 Lowestoft schools, our Clown Round sessions at Ipswich, James Paget and Norfolk & Norwich hospitals, print and dry felt making with Ruth Philo in our Culture Club sessions, the Exchanges 2 residency and grand public finale on 31st March, the illustration and character art sessions in Lowestoft as part of Jumpstart course for people with learning difficulties and the dance sessions for the Bury St Edmunds course, our music sessions for Phonic and the animation sessions for Suffolk at Play.

Exchanges – a film about the project from Suffolk Artlink on Vimeo.

Aside from sessions and events, Nonnie and Ilona, two young adult carers from Exchanges 2, have been interviewing others and doing audio diaries on the project and are being aired on BBC Radio Suffolk. So far 7 radio pieces have been broadcast including interviews with the group as they were doing body casts with alginate, interviews with the artists and interviews with the UCS dance student placement about creating a dance piece in response to the residency.

There will be a grand public finale on 31st March 2014 at the UCS Waterfront Foyer from 4pm. For further information contact Jenny Holland on [email protected] or 01986 873955

Something that Suffolk Artlink is not involved with but we thought that we would pass it on as part of supporting artists is the Ipswich Borough Council, CSV and Eastern Enterprise Hub’s joint project ReCreate. www.ipswichrecreate.org

ReCreate is a EU Funded project that looks to stimulate Ipswich town centre regeneration through the Creative Sector.

Through this project there is:

·         Free Space – There are spaces at the Town Hall that are available for free hires by the Creative Community. These can be used for exhibitions, galleries, rehearsals, residencies, etc.

·         Free Business Advice – One of our partners are running a Creative Entrepreneurs course for people who are interested in turning their creative ideas into a business.

·         Free Skills development – Numerous free training courses in topics like social media, word press, etc.
