Jane-Sayer

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust has appointed Jane Sayer as its new Director of Nursing, Quality and Patient Safety.

Jane, who will join the Trust on 28 October, is currently Acting Director of Nursing and Education at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

Jane qualified as a mental health nurse in 1990 and has since worked in in-patient and community mental health settings and as a practice development tutor. After completing an MSc in Clinical Mental Health Nursing, Jane worked as nurse advisor for learning disabilities, as well as completing a PhD at the Institute of Psychiatry.

She also worked for NHS London, providing expert assurance on re-provision of learning disability services, and led a programme of research into improving the employability of newly-qualifying nurses.

Jane said: “I’m very much looking forward to starting as Director of Nursing, Quality and Patient Safety, and I hope to harness the positive energy I picked up during the selection process to ensure that service users and carers in Norfolk and Suffolk get the best care from motivated, compassionate and empowered nurses. In addition to the job, my partner and I are very excited about moving to the local area and hope to continue to pursue our creative interests.”

Andrew Hopkins, Acting Chief Executive at Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are delighted to have someone of Jane’s calibre joining the Trust. Her skills and experience will prove invaluable in ensuring both patient safety and the quality of care we provide, remain paramount, especially during this time of change as we implement the Trust Service Strategy. Jane will be a tremendous, positive role model for our nursing staff.”
