Norwich Pride

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is all set to fly the flag again at this year’s Norwich Pride.

Members from the Trust will be supporting the event on July 26, which aims to raise awareness of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and to celebrate diversity.

Last month, the Trust was delighted to join in the festivities at Suffolk Pride: On Parade, and will also have two stands at this year’s Norwich event.

“Our Trust has a long history and association with the community and we are always pleased to show our support at Pride events,” said Trust Secretary, Robert Nesbitt.

“We will be staffing the stands to offer information about our services and gain valuable feedback, as well as taking along our interactive Wellbeing Tree, used as part of our Wellbeing service, and which helps spark conversation about happiness and mental wellbeing.

“Apart from celebrating diversity and the LGBT community itself, it is vital to support those members who may feel vulnerable because of their sexuality or gender identity.”

Thousands of people are expected to turn out for the 6th Norwich Pride, as well as run-up events including SuperGay Friday, LGBT talks, keynote speeches and multimedia exhibitions.

Pride organisers are asking as many civic buildings, businesses and organisations to fly the rainbow flag, the international symbol of LGBT Pride, to show they value and respect their LGBT staff, clients, customers, student, patients.

Once again, the Trust will be flying the rainbow flag over Hellesdon Hospital during the Pride celebrations.

Ravi Seenan, the Trust’s Equality and Engagement Manager, said: “Our Trust values and celebrates the diversity of all the communities we serve.

“Our practice guidelines, which we also promote at the festival, are intended to provide a framework for professionals to understand the needs of lesbian, gay and bisexual service users, and colleagues.

“We are once again proud to support the Norwich festival.”
