Disability charity Optua is running a series of fun events are running for young people with disabilities during the summer holidays.

The Teaming Up summer events are running throughout the summer holidays for anyone aged 14-25 who has a disability or additional needs. The events are all based in Ipswich, Lowestoft and Bury St Edmunds and include various sports and trips to Colchester Zoo, Jimmy’s Farm and Pleasurewood Hills.

Teaming Up sessions run are running throughout the year to give young people with disabilities or additional needs the opportunity to gain more independence, confidence, self esteem and vital social skills, whilst taking part in everyday fun leisure activities. Regular evening sessions are also currently running in Haverhill until 22 August 2011 and are launching in Sudbury on 05 September.

The Teaming Up project is being run by Optua’s Leisure Service thanks to funding by Suffolk County Council’s Activities Unlimited Service.

Ipswich (Mondays)

15th August 2011 – Colchester Zoo via train & bus – (Bring money for the day)

Lowestoft (Tuesdays)

9th August – Day Trip to Norwich via Train – (Bring money for the day)

16th August – Pleasurewood Hills – (Bring money for the day)

Bury St Edmunds (Wednesdays)

10th August – Swimming & Archery at Bury Leisure Centre – £10

17th August – Gymnastics & Trampolining at Spectrum Gym – £10.
